Abstract
695,838. Roofing. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA ICOPAL & TAKPIXFABRI-. KEN. July 27, 1951, No. 17887/51. Class 20(iv) [Also in Group VIII] A roll roofing consisting of a base impregnated with bitumen and coated with bitumen and stone material retained by the bitumen characterized by the stone grains being of such a size and shape that each sq. cm. of base can retain in a single layer not more than 7 even when in contact with one another (see Group VIII) is secured to a supporting roof by a liquid or plastic binding agent, e.g. mortar, cold cement, or bitumen emulsion, grain side facing the roof, so that the.grains act as spacing members, supporting the base at a distance from the roof equal to or greater than the thickness of the base, and leaving draining spaces between the roof and base. In Fig. 3 a concrete roof 6 having a heat insulating layer 7 is covered with the roll roofing 8 secured by daubs of binding agent 9. The joints are covered by sealing strips 10 and the whole covered with a layer of ordinary roll roofing 11 secured by hot bitumen. In Fig. 4 a concrete roof 13 is covered with a layer of the roll roofing 14 and a heat insulating layer 15 is applied thereto. A further layer of roll roofing 16 is applied followed by sealing strips and ordinary roll roofing as in Fig. 3.
