Abstract

695,526. Thread-advancing reels. COURTAULDS, Ltd. Oct. 12 1651 [Oct. 14, 1950], No. 23790/51. Class 120(ii) Yarn &c. is processed with liquid by forming the yarn into a helix on a threadadvancing reel having thread-supporting surfaces with longitudinal openings therein through which the liquid flows to contact the yarn. The reel may comprise two members 8, 9, mounted on offset and askew axes, having interdigitating bars 10, 11, the bars of at least one member being formed with openings 12 through which treating liquid is passed centrifugally from a conduit 37. A "slinger-ring" 38 and a gasket 28 keep liquid from the bearings &c. Flexible blankets 40, 41 (not shown), or a shroud may be fitted about the outside of the reel to prevent liquid from escaping radially and to re-apply it to the yarn. In a further modification, the treating liquid may be supplied to the two reel members from opposite sides. Specification 688,219; [Group VIII], is referred to.
