A flow-box of a slow or medium speed paper-making machine has twin stainless steel spreaders 12 terminating at a vertical inlet 13 adjoining a U-shaped passage 16 constricted at 16b, an overflow weir 15a having a pivotally adjustable vane 18 above it, and a valve-controlled outlet 17. A projection slice 19a is adjustable at 20, 21 and 21a, the latter allowing the slice to be raised to a horizontal position. Vertical slices 22, 23 are adjustable at 25, 26.
