Abstract

694,282. Doctor-rolls of paper-making machines. AKTIEBOLAGET KAFAB. Sept. 21, 1951 [Sept. 27, 1950], No. 22125/51. Class 96. A doctor-roll 5 for cleaning the surface e.g. of a nickel-plated Yankee drying drum 2, comprises a series of circular discs of wool or felt &c. spaced apart by smaller discs of cardboard, felt, canvas, or rock wool &c. shaped like spurwheels, the assembly being clamped with the aid of end-discs and rods &c. and splined on a shaft 3, the roll being driven by a motor 12, gear-box 13, and pulley 14 &c. connected through universal joints 16, the roller and drive mechanism being mounted on arms 4 pivoted at 6 and reciprocated across the face of the drum 2 by worm gearing 20, eccentric 22 and connecting-rod 23. Alternatively, a pendulumtype suspension may be used. The roll 5 may be driven in either direction e.g. at twice the speed of the drum 2.
