Abstract
694,050. Rail vehicle undercarriages. METROPOLITAN-CAMMELL CARRIAGE & WAGON CO., Ltd. Nov. 9, 1951 [Aug. 9, 1950], No. 19786/50. Class 103 (vi). A rail vehicle undercarriage (Fig. 1) comprises a transom 1 which is pivotally supported at its ends on trunnions 10 carried by the side frames 2 which rest on part-cylindrical pads 19 (Fig. 4) and the journal bearings 18. The mating surfaces 20, 21 of the pads 19 and the side frames 2 are such that displacement of the side frame from their vertical positions is accompanied by a simultaneous movement of the side frames in a vertical direction to lift the vehicle body and thus provide a restoring force to return the side frames to their vertical positions.
