A known liquid level gauge of the type comprising two vertical glass tubes a, connected together by means of a flexible tube c, is provided with boards b on which scales may be carried. Differences in height between the two scales b are read by means of the variation in liquid levels in the tubes a in the known manner. Each tube a is provided with a tap a<SP>2</SP> in known manner which may be closed for transporting the apparatus.
