Abstract
692,373. Drill bits. DIONISOTTI, J. Jan. 2, 1951 [Aug. 8, 1950], No. 128/51. Class 85 A bit for a rock drill that acts with a combined rotary and axial percussive movement has formed on the bit body 2 groups of cutters and is characterized in that, with the exception of the central cutter 6, the cutters 11-16, which act as chisels and which extend in a circumferential direction, are supported by lateral extensions 3 provided on the bit body and are disposed along a spiral 17 on a surface of revolution the radius of which increases towards the rear of the bit. The wedgeshaped shanks of the cutters are driven into similarly shaped recesses provided in said lateral extensions, some of said recesses being disposed at an angle with respect to the axis of the bit, whilst others, particularly the outermost ones, may be parallel to said axis and open at 19 on the lateral surfaces of the extensions, which may be two or four in number, for allowing the introduction of a tool for the removal of the cutters. The cutters at the periphery of the bit are arranged to cut a narrower step than that cut out by the other cutters. Specification 641,010 is referred to.
