Abstract
692,018. Thermal switches. BADER, K. E. Sept. 30, 1948. No. 20143/52 Divided out of 691,961 Class 38(v) A switching apparatus adapted to control the supply of energy to a heating apparatus by intermittently interrupting the current, has a coiled bimetallic member 45 secured at one end and free to rotate at the other, means for heating the bimetal, a variable shunt path for regulating this heating and a tilting mercury switch 46 mounted on the free end of the bimetal. In the arrangement shown, the bimetal 45 is heated by a heating coil wound upon it, although the bimetal may be heated by the current flowing through it. The variable shunt path may comprise the variable resistor 25 as described in Specification 692,017 and the apparatus functions in a manner similar to that described in Specification 692,017. Specification 691,961 also is referred to.
