Abstract

691,086. Envelope-making machines. WESLEY, Ltd.,H. Feb. 13, 1952 [March 8, 1951], No. 5661/51. Class 94(ii) In an envelope or bag making machine of the plunger type, a positively-driven fast-running roller is provided between the gumming roller and the folding box, and the blanks have a predetermined increase in speed imparted to them by one or more rollers intermittently operated to engage their upper surface as they pass over the fastrunning roller. The blank passes between the gumming and backing rollers 14, 15 and' the driven feed rollers 16 to the roller 18. The latter is driven by the belt or chain 20 from the shaft of the roller 15, at a faster peripheral speed than the gumming or feed rollers. As the blank passes over roller 18 it is accelerated by the lowering of rollers 22 produced by the cam 29 and linkwork 23 ... 28 and proceeds to the folding box 17. By adjustment of the friction roller assembly, the blank may be given a predetermined acceleration depending upon the size of blank to be used. Reciprocating'guides 37 of conventional pattern and overhead swinging register stops 45, operated, by rods 43, 52, respectively, and associated linkwork, are provided in association with the folding box 17.
