Abstract
690,841. Hollow-ware. BREVETAG AKT.-GES. Jan. 12, 1951 [Jan. 26, 1950; Sept. 25, 1950], No. 922/51. Class 66 A pouring can or like container 1 for liquids has a closure device constituted by an arm 5 hingedly attached to the container at 4 which in the folded position is secured to the container by a yoke 8 to seal the-outlet opening 2<SP>1</SP> therein and serves as a carrying handle and when unfolded uncovers the outlet. As shown in Fig. 1 the folding arm 5 is of a bent shaped hollow tube tapering from the end 5<SP>1</SP> adjacent the point 4 to the opposite end where it is sealed by a cap 11 and coupled through a notch 13 in the rim of the end by a wire yoke 8 linked at 9 to the container to form a handle. The wider opening 6 of the arm encases the filler pipe 2 of the container its. inner wall surface is pressed against the collar shaped rim 5 of the pipe by means of a gasket 7 to seal the opening. When unfolded the arm 5 serves as a pourer through which to empty the contents of the container. A screen 14 is provided in the arm and a vent pipe 15 in the container and filler pipe. In a modification shown in Fig. 3 the rim of the pipe 2 which is of conical form to facilitate emptying the container is sealed by a flange 7 when the end 5<SP>11</SP> of the arm is secured through a cap 11 thereon to the container by means of a yoke 8. A projection 16 on the end of the arm is provided to secure the cap 11 thereon and also serves as a rest for the pourer and to prevent it slipping when pouring the contents into another vessel.
