Class 44 In a quick-release fastening for parachute harness of the kind comprising a cylindrical box containing spring loaded plungers simultaneously displaceable to release the harness straps, the plungers are associated with a circular lifting plate having a number of radially extending projections, and simultaneous displacement of the plungers is effected by the rotation of a cylinder mounted coaxially with and near the periphery of the box, the cylinder having a cam profile in one edge thereof engaging the projections on the lifting plate. In one form the box comprises a base 1, Figs. 1 and 3, a plunger housing member 2, a lifting plate 4, a cam ring 3, and an operating member 6. The spring-loaded plungers 5 pass through the plate 4 and are lifted by contact of the plate with flanges 5a on the plungers. The operating member 6 is rotatably mounted on a pivot 10 secured to the housing member 2, and rotates the cam ring 3 by means of a dog 15 secured inside member 2 and engaging between the ends 3a of the ring 3. Tongues 4a on plate 4 are engaged by cam surfaces on ring 3, causing plate 4 to be lifted as member 6 is turned. In a modified construction, the tongues 4a, Fig. 8, co-operate with two concentric cam rings 3x, 3y, which when the operating member 6 is pushed inwardly are caused to rotate in opposite directions by means of members 15a secured to member 6 which act on oppositely inclined cam surfaces 3p, 3q on the respective rings.
