Abstract
689,992. Transformers and inductances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 29, 1950 [Dec. 17, 1949], No. 29250/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (ii). A magnetic core having a plurality of laminated layers of magnetic strip material comprises stacked yoke laminations and stacked leg laminations joined to each other to form a generally hollow rectangular configuration by groups of butt joints in both the yoke and the leg sections of the core, each group being arranged in a stepped or staggered sequence for a predetermined number of steps after which the joint pattern is repeated. Corresponding leg laminations in each pattern may be of the same length or may be progressively longer towards the outer edges of the rectangle according to the disposition of the butt joints, i.e. whether they are, in general, at right angles to the plane of the leg laminations, or at an angle thereto. The butt joints in the yoke portions may correspondingly be at right angles to, or at an angle to the laminations in the yoke. The right angle corners of the core may be formed by bending the ends of the yoke laminations or by using right-angled insert pieces. Specification 622,538 is referred to.
