Abstract

In order to prevent caking on storage ammonium perchlorate cyrstals in divided form are provided with a deposit of a water soluble salt which has a solubility of at least 0.5 per cent in saturated ammonium perchlorate solution at 20 DEG C and which is derived from trisulphonated paraparaparatriaminotriphenylcarbinol anhydride or a ring substituted alkyl derivative thereof. Ammonium perchlorate may be crystallized in finely divided crystalline form from an aqueous solution of such a salt, the crystals being dried with the mother liquor adhering to them, or a solution of the salt may be sprayed over the surface of a mass of loose crystals of ammonium perchlorate in finely divided crystalline form. Suitable trisulphonated compounds include: trisulphonated para-para-para-triamino-triphenyl-carbinol anhydride ammonium salt; trisulphonated para-para-para triamino-diphenyl tolylcarbinol anhydride ammonium salt; Acid Magenta (a mixture of the sodium of ammonium salts of trisulphonated para-para-para-triamino-triphenyl carbinol anhydride and trisulphonated para-para-para-triamino - diphenyl - tolyl - carbinol anhydride); trisulphonated para - para - para-triamino-tritolyl-carbinol anhydride ammonium or calcium salt; trisulphonated para-para-para triamino-phenyl-ditolyl-carbinol anhydride ammonium salt.
