Abstract
686,465. Electrode materials for television pickup tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 7, 1951 [Feb. 23, 1950], No. 4617/50. Class 39(i) A mosaic electrode has a layer of a caesium resistant metallic oxide 2 between the support 1 of dielectric material and the photo-sensitive elements 3. A thin substantially transparent layer of magnesium oxide 2 is applied to a glass or mica sheet .001-.004 inch thick, by depositing magnesium metal and subsequently oxidizing it. One or more metals e.g. antimony or bismuth and silver are evaporated through a stencil mesh onto the oxide layer to form elements 3, the stencil is removed and the mosaic exposed to caesium vapour and baked at 140-170‹C until the sensitivity has passed a maximum value. The electrode with its caesium coating 4 is then exposed to oxygen until its definition is at a maximum as indicated by reproduced pictures. The oxides of aluminium, barium and other refractory elements may replace the magnesium oxide. There is a signal layer on the back of,the support.
