686,315. Hose couplings. COLLIER, G. R. Nov. 2, 1950 [Nov. 11, 1949], No. 28965/49. Class 99 (i). A swivel coupling for connecting a hose to a tap comprises a tubular shell having a tapered portion 12, a packing ring 3 fitting the tapered portion, a tube 2 fitting an orifice 13 in the shell and having at one end a flange 2a engaging a recess in the ring 3 and at the other end a serrated surface 6 to grip the hose, and a second packing ring 4 secured by adhesive in the open end of the shell and having a tapered bore into which the tap outlet is forced. The device may be secured by a chain (not shown) having a spring link attached to an eye 14 and a hook for engaging a lug 15.
