In a wrist watch having an alarm mechanism, a crown for setting the alarm mechanism, a second crown for stopping the 'alarm mechanism, a third crown for winding the common mainspring for the watch-mechanism and for the alarm-mechanism and setting the hour and minute hands, the crown for setting the alarm mechanism and the crown for stopping the alarm are arranged one on each side of the winding crown and symmetrically in relation thereto. The invention is applied to a wrist watch having winding and setting mechanism of the rocking lever type operated by a, button or crown 3, Fig. 5, attached to the winding stem 2, Fig. 3. The hour wheel 21 has three projections 21a which co-operate with three recesses 22b in a co-axial alarm setting wheel 22, Figs. 1 and 3 settable through a gear train 27, 28, 29 by rotation of a button 25, Fig. 5, fixed to a stem 26, Fig. 3. A lever 51, Fig. 1, urges the hour wheel 21 towards the alarm setting wheel 22 so that at the alarm time when the projections 21a enter the recesses 22b the wheel 21 is moved and the end 51b of the lever 51 frees a hammer 41 ' which is then actuated by a wheel 45, Fig. 3, driven by the mainspring through the gear train 7, 42, 43, 44: By movement of a button 56, Fig. 5, a lever 59, Fig. 3, pivoted at 60 is rocked so that its end 59a locks the' hammer 41. The wheel 43 is carried by a rocker 46, which is normally positioned with its spring arm 46a against a stop 48. During winding of the mainspring the gear wheel 7 rotates in the direction of the arrow 50, Fig. 3, and the rocker 46 is rocked clockwise so that no drive is transmitted to the train 42, 43, 44. A spring 30 is coiled round the stem 26 to prevent reverse movement thereof. A spring pawl 31, Fig. 4, on the rocking lever 10 engages, during hand-setting, a gear 14 of the hand-setting train to prevent reverse rotation of the hands. A spring click 13 holds the rocking lever 10 in either of its two positions.
