Abstract

686,179. Elevated railways; conveyers. KING, D. M. Oct. 11, 1950. [Oct. 20, 1949] No. 26967/49. Classes 78 (i) and 104 (ii). A trolley for a conveyer system comprises two similar pressed metal plates 11 arranged back to back to provide a body having a wide upper portion and narrow lower portion, the upper portion having at each side an inverted channel 14 housing a set of wheels 15 running on two parallel rails 10, between which the lower portion 17 of the trolley extends, such lower portion being provided with rollers IS at opposite sides to engage vertical surfaces on the rails and take up lateral thrust. The spindles 16 of wheels 15 are provided with flats for insertion in vertical slots 24 cut in the outer limb of each U-shaped portion 14, the inner ends of the spindles 16 being locked in the inner limbs of the U-shaped portions 14 by means of spring clips 25. The upper ends of the spindles 19 of rollers 18 arc supported in lugs 20 pressed out of the vertical parts of the U-shaped portions 17. A transverse spindle 23 supports a load bar (not shown). The upper portions of plates 11 are rigidly connected by a hood consisting of a top 12 and ends 13, while the lower portions between the tracks 10 are connected by members 21, Fig. 3, one at each end of the trolley which act to guide the trolley on bends and at switches in the track.
