Abstract
685,745. Spring suspensions. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Oct. 26, 1951 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 25747/51. Class 108 (ii). In a springing system for motor road vehicles comprising springs arranged in front of and behind a respective road wheel, the springs are arranged in the plane of the wheel. In the arrangement shown, a U-shaped bearer 22 is secured to an axle 4 the links of the U embracing a wheel 5 and serving to support coil springs 16, the other ends of which abut against frame members 11 and 20. The axle 4 is located by a central V-shaped bar 9 pivoted to the frame at 10 and to a differential casing 8 by a ball joint 12 and by a pair of radius rods 13 connected to the frame and axle casing by ball joints 14, 15. The springs 16 may be replaced by guided coil springs, hydraulic springs or rubber springs and the single springs shown may be replaced by a plurality of springs.
