Abstract
684,891. Separators. BOK, H. A. Feb. 13, 1951 [Feb. 24, 1950], No. 3471/51. Classes 23 and 117 A grading device comprises a fan in a chamber 4 blowing air through a separating zone 3 leading to a cyclone chamber 11, the air being returned through an opening 15, of adjustable size, to the fan chamber 4. Granular, or other substance, to be separated enters through a shoot 1, having a control valve 19 and projections 22 which spread the substance throughout the shoot and the larger or heavier particles rebound from the blunt ends of stream-lined louvres 5 and pass into collector 8. Intermediate size particles rebound from a wall 10 and pass either into the collector 8 or are carried upwards into the cyclone chamber 11 with the fine particles and both are deposited in a collector 12. Air passes out laterally from the chamber enclosed by a drum 17, which may be rotated by hand to vary the size of the opening 15. The louvres 5 may be angularly adjusted about pivots 6. Air is prevented from entering collectors 8, 12 by means of valves 20, 21.
