Abstract

684,671. Fishing. ANDERSON, K. E. Sept. 2, 1948, No. 23137/48. Class 48. A fishing rod having a detachable reel 3 which is secured in a bend of the handle bv a screw device comprises a fixed tube 4 and a plurality of telescopic tubes 5, 6 which may be locked in any position so as to vary the length of the rod as desired, and the tubes 5, 6 may be slid into a cavity in the handle 1 when the reel 3 is removed so as to attain the least possible length in the telescoped condition. The locking device comprises a screwed sleeve 9 having longitudinal slots 8 at its conical outer end attached to the tube 4, and a nut 7 having an internal conical surface is mounted on the sleeve whereby the tube 5 is firmly clamped when the nut is screwed downwardly. A collar 10 is fitted on the tube 5 to prevent complete withdrawal, and a stop is provided so as to allow only a limited rotation of the nut 7.
