Abstract
684,494. Aircraft hangars. WILLIAMS, Sir E. O., and WILLIAMS, O. T. Jan. 17, 1951 [Jan. 18, 1950]. No. 1332/50. Class, 20 (i). Means for increasing the size of an aircraft hangar 12 comprises at least one mobile shell-like structure 10a or 10b of part-spherical form adapted for positioning adjacent an entrance 11 in the hangar 12. The structures 10a, 10b, may be of reinforced concrete or of metal sheet on a steel framework, and are provided with fixed or castoring wheels 17a, 17b, 17c, which may run on rails on the apron area 25 in front of the hangar. The structures 10a, 10b, may be self-propelled, e.g. by an internal combustion engine 26, or they may be towed by e.g. a tractor or by a stationary power source.
