Abstract

683,836. Toothed gearing. RUBERY, OWEN & CO., Ltd. May 10, 1951 [May 17, 1950], No. 12288/50. Class 80 (i). [Also in Group XXXI] Relates to the drive of a power take-off shaft 28 from a motor vehicle differential (see Group XXXI). The crown wheel 18 of the differential gear is driven by a bevel pinion 15 on a driven shaft 11 mounted by opposed tapered and plain roller bearings 13, 14, 16 in the differential casing 25. Similarly mounted on the opposite side of the casing 25 is the shaft 28 having a bevel gear 32 meshing with the crown wheel 18. The crown wheel is supported against lateral thrust by means of bearing pads 35 supported by adjustable screws 36 from the casing 25. Specification 505,855, [Group XXXI], is referred to.
