Abstract

683,818. Soldering. MULTICORE SOLDERS, Ltd., FISK, P. M., and ARBIB, R. Sept. 14, 1950 [Dec. 14, 1949], No. 32118/49. Class 83 (iv). The outside of flux-cored solder metal is roughened or serrated and coated with flux which forms a firm adherent film around the solder metal. In an embodiment a solder wire 1, Fig. 1, having a flux core 4 has serrations 3 on its outer surface and is coated with flux 2. Two, three or more cores may be provided. In a further embodiment, solder wire 1a, Figs. 3, 4, having a core 4 and coating 2a is in the form of a ring. Coated solder pellets may be made. A suitable flux is obtained by adding a wax to a rosin-based flux.
