683,735. Reciprocating pumps. NEUE ARGUS GES. Jan. 9, 1951 [Feb. 27, 1950], No. 604/51. Class 102 (i). In a reciprocating pump, the barrel 1 is attached to the reservoir 14 and is fitted with a piston 3 having a collar 6 and an extension 5. When the piston is retracted, the inlet ball valve 21 rests on the extension and on the delivery stroke, the collar 6 first opens the spring-loaded delivery valve 24 and then the part 8 of the piston maintains the valve 24 open until near the end of the return stroke and thus air in the outlet 26 may rise and return to the reservoir 14.
