Class 82(ii) In a process for wet classification of a slurry of which the flowability is sufficient to make it pumpable but insufficient to allow particles to settle, the slurry is classified in a hydrocyclone. As shown, a slurry containing at least 55 per cent solids, e.g. cement raw materials, is made up in a vessel 2 and pumped to a hydrocyclone 8, the fine particles being discharged at the base through a pipe 11 and the coarse particles at the apex through a pipe 15. The coarse particles may then be ground, added to the fine particles, and burnt to cement. More than one hydrocyclone may be used.
