Class 25 [Also in Group XXVIII] Fumes arising from an incinerator are deodorized in a chamber forming part of the incinerator flue and housing filtering, absorbent and fan means. As shown, the mouth 2 of the incinerator 1 is integrally connected with a casing 3 the upper wall 4 of which converges towards an outlet 5A. An outer casing 5 having a dome portion 7 serving as a housing for an electric fan motor 8 envelopes the casing 3 and is secured thereto at the rear panel 6. The fan 11, consisting of a circular plate 12 and radial blades 13, is located above the outlet 5A and is surrounded by an annular carbon filter pack 14 louvres 15 being provided in the portion 7 for the escaping deodorized gases. The filter pack contained within the casing 3 comprises filter material e.g. asbestos, glass or cotton wool preferably incorporating a deodorant, stretched in a sinuous path over a framework consisting of a number of links similar to 25 to each of which is attached a triangular-shaped piece similar 'to 26. The links are provided with lateral flanges which fit between the guide strips 16, 17, 18, 19 attached to the front and rear walls of the casing 3. Access to the filter is by door plates 20, 21 and 22 and below the filter pack is a tray 33 made from heat-resisting porous material and containing activated carbon granules. Control of the motor 8 and hence the fan is by means of contacts 35 actuated by a bi-metallic strip disposed near the combustion chamber. The fan may be so located as to produce an axial draught and it may be disposed on the incinerator side of the filtering arrangements.
