682,991. Injecting fertilizer &c. KESTREL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and HOBBS, J. R. June 27, 1951 [July 7, 1950; Jan. 23, 1951]. Nos. 17029/50 and 1718/51. Class 6(ii) [Also in Group XVII] A device for injecting fertilizer or pestcontrolling substances into the soil comprises a container transportable by hand and provided with a nozzle 6 formed with a bore 5. which communicates with the container by means of a diverging throat 4 and passage 3 and a plunger comprising a rod 7 slidable in bearings and a head 11 which slides in the bore 5. A spring 12 is used to agitate the material in the container and the plunger is operated by a hand lever 17 pivoted on a handle 19. The plunger is depressed and the container is pushed into the soil, the depth of penetration being limited by the face 25 of the container. The plunger is raised to allow powder to fill up the bore 5 and depressed to eject the powder from the bore into the soil. In a modification a handle may be provided on the end of the.. rod 7.
