Abstract
682,550. Slab ceilings. METAMICA, Ltd. May 30, 1951 [June 1, 1950], No. 13757/50. Class 20(iv) Ceiling slabs a are suspended between a series of parallel inverted T-joists j by means of clips b, Fig. 1, which are secured by screws d, along two opposite margins, on each slab, the distance between the edges of the out-turned parts of the clips on one slab being greater than that between the flanges of adjacent joists but sub-' stantially less than the distance between two adjacent webs c. These dimensions allow each slab to be fitted by first engaging the left clips e of a slab a, Fig 2, then displacing the slab towards the web f, the other end then being swung into position for the clips g to engage the joist h. The clips are sufficiently tall to allow the last slab adjacent a wall to be placed in position by sliding one edge into the space between the joist c, Fig. 1, and the underlying part of the slab previously placed in position, swinging the other side of the slab up to engage the joist adjacent the wall, and then engaging the clips with the last but one joist from the wall. The clips may have sound damping buffers i, Fig. 3, or adjustable screws k having damping pads i, Fig. 4. When the slabs span more than two joists additional clips o, Fig. 5, may be fitted.
