Abstract

681,816. Tea infusers. TEEPACK SPEZIALMASCHINEN GES. June 22, 1949 [July 8, 1948], No. 16575/49. Class 129. [Also in Group XVII] A folded packet adapted for use as an infusing device in making tea &c. is formed by folding a sheet of waterpermeable paper or perforated transparent film longitudinally inward along two parallel lines to obtain a flattened tube with one edge overlapping the other, and then folding the tube transversely along two parallel lines f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP>, thus providing two compartments g', g<SP>2</SP> with their longitudinal seamed portions d towards each other, the space between the compartments providing a partition h such that, when the compartments are filled with tea &c. and secured together at their upper ends, the swelling of the contents due to immersion in an infusion liquid causes the seamed inner walls of the compartments to press one against the other, at least over a short extent. The position of the transverse folds f', f<SP>2</SP> is also such that the compartment g' is of greater depth than g<SP>2</SP>, thereby providing a closing flap i the corners of which may be folded inwardly upon the open end of compartment g<SP>2</SP> before the central portion. The closing flap may be secured by a clip k which extends over and around the seam d. The clip may also serve for the attachment of a holding- string or the like e. As shown in Fig. 2 the overlapping longitudinal edges which comprise the seam d are folded inwardly, together in successive folds; a reinforcing wire, or a holding string, or a narrow metal band may be located within the fold. A third transverse fold may be formed between the folds f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP> so that the partition h has the form of an inverted V. More than two compartments may be obtained by repeated transverse folding of a long tube. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the tube may be seamless. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
