Abstract
Dyes of the general formula <FORM:0681738/IV (c)/1> where R1 and R2 are alkyl or aralkyl groups, R3 is H or an alkyl or aralkyl group, D is the residue or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic nitrogen nucleus, and n and x are 0 or 1, are prepared by reacting dyes of the general formula <FORM:0681738/IV (c)/2> wherein R4 is an alkyl or aralkyl group and X is O or S, with a compound of the general formula R3NH2. Ethyl 6-(31-methyl-21 : 31-dihydrobenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - ethylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 : 4 - hexadienoate is prepared by refluxing together ethyl 6-(31-methyl-21 : 31)-dihydrobenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - ethylthio - 2-cyano-2 : 4-hexadienoate, ethyl alcohol, and aqueous methylamine. Ethyl 6-(31-methyl-21 : 31 - dihydrobenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - methylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 : 4 - hexadienoate, ethyl 4 - (31 - methyl - 21 : 31 - dihydrobenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - ethylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 - butenoate, ethyl 4 - (31 - methyl - 21 : 31 - dihydrobenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - methylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 - butenoate, ethyl 4 - (31 - methyl - 21 : 31-dihydro - 41 : 51 - benzbenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - ethylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 - butenoate, ethyl 4 - (31-methyl - 21 : 31 - dihydro - 41 : 51 - benzbenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - methylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 - butenoate, ethyl 6 - (11 - ethyl - 11 : 21 - dihydroquinolylidene - 21) - 3 - ethylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 : 4 - hexadienoate, ethyl 6 - (11 - ethyl - 11 : 21 - dihydroquinolylidene - 21) - 3 - methylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 : 4 - hexadienoate, ethyl 4 - (11 - methyl - 11 : 21 - dihydroquinolylidene - 21) - 3 - ethyl amino - 2 - cyano - 2 - butenoate, ethyl 4 - (11 - methyl - 11 : 21 - dihydroquinolylidene - 21) - 3 - methylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 - butenoate, ethyl 6 - (11 : 31 : 31 - trimethyl - 11 : 21 - dihydroindolylidene - 21) - 3 - ethylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 : 4 - hexadienoate, ethyl 6 - (31 - methyl - 21 : 31 - dihydrobenzthiazolylidene - 21) - 3 - amino - 2 - cyano - 2 : 4 - hexadienoate, methyl 4 - (3 - methyl - 2 : 3 - dihydrobenzthiazolylidene - 2) - 3 - methylamino - 2 - cyano - 2 - butenoate, and ethyl 4 - (3 - ethyl - 2 : 3 - benzthiazolylidene - 2) - 3 - benzylamino - 2 - cyano-2-butenoate are similarly prepared.
