Abstract
681,355. Discharge lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. March 11, 1949 [March 16, 1948], No. 6740/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(i) A conductive starting strip on the inside of a discharge lamp having a luminescent coating is formed by sintering or melting a dispersion of a conductive material, or a compound reducing to a conductive material on heating, in an inorganic binder, so that the strip is neither above nor below the luminescent coating, but incorporated with it. In the example given, the conductive material is silver, and the binder a glaze of specified composition. Initially, silver oxide and the glaze are mixed with butanol, and a strip applied over the luminescent layer by roller. After driving off the butanol, the tube is baked at 470‹C as the final processing step.
