In a mould for making concrete posts and the like comprising bottom, side and end walls and at least one bridge device for holding a core, each side wall 2 has an external flange 4 and each bridge device comprises two pillars or brackets 5 adapted to be attached to the external flanges so that they can be slid along them and clamped in any desired position on them, and a cross bar, carrying a core member 14, is adapted to be supported by the brackets so that it extends horizontally across the mould above the level of the walls. Each bridge piece (of which there may be any number) comprises a bar 8 which is held across the mould by pins 9 at its ends seating in holes in the brackets 5 which are attached to the flanges 4 by clamping screws 6, a clamping nut 13 holding the bar 8 against rotation. A core pin 14 is clamped between the bar 8 and a plate 10, a wooden block 11 with a groove 18 being interposed. The core pin 14 may be perpendicular to the bottom of the mould or at an angle to it, according to the angular position of the clamp fixed by the nut 13. Any other desired form of core may be held in the bridge piece, such as a tubular core or a block 15, the block 11 being used or not as required. A group of rods 20 forming cores may be held in a wooden (or other) rail 19 supported from two bridge pieces. The cores may be adjusted either to reach the bottom of the mould, or to stop short of it to form blind holes in the moulded object. The bridges may also be used to support hinges, bolts or other parts to be moulded or cast in.
