Abstract
680,766. Knitting-machines. ABBOTT MACHINE CO. Oct. 10, 1949. [Oct. 19, 1948] No. 25955/49. Class 74 (ii). [Also in Group IX] A slub catcher for breaking faulty yarns which is applicable to a knitting-machine comprises two blocks 41, 40, the block 41, being recessed at 42 to provide a yarn passage and being slidable relative to the block 40 to clear the passage of fly, &c. The block 41 is held against the fixed block 40 by a spring loaded member 48 carried in an arm 49 mounted on a crank 53. At desired intervals cam means moves the crank 53 to slide the block 41 from the position shown in Fig. 4 to that of Fig. 5 when the running yarn and/or on air blast clears the fly from the face 42. Yarn tension discs 30, 31 may be mounted beneath the blocks. The block 41 is replaceable by another to vary the passage width.
