Abstract

The invention comprises ethyleneiminotriazines of the formula <FORM:0680652/IV (b)/1> wherein A is hydrogen or an alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, amino, alkylamino or dialkylamino group or a halogen atom, preferably an amino or substituted amino group other than an ethyleneimino-group and their preparation by reacting a dihalogeno-1 : 3 : 5-triazine of the formula <FORM:0680652/IV (b)/2> wherein X and Y stand for the same or different halogen atoms with ethyleneimine preferably in a liquid medium such as water in the presence of an acid-binding agent such as potassium carbonate. In examples: (1) 2-amino-; (2) 2-methylamino-; (3) 2-ethylamino-; (4) 2-isopropylamino-; (5) 2-dimethylamino-; (6) 2-phenyl-; (7) 2-p-tolyl-; (8) 2-methyl-; (9) 2-methoxy-; (10) 2-ethoxy-; (11) 2-isopropoxy-and (12) 2-chloro-, 4 : 6-bis-ethyleneimono-1 : 3 : 5-triazine are prepared according to the invention. 4 : 6 - Dichloro - 1 : 3 : 5 - triazines.-2-Isopropylamino- and 2-dimethylamino-4 : 6-dichloro-1 : 3 : 5-triazine are prepared by the reaction of cyanuric chloride with isopropylamine and dimethylamine respectively. 2-Phenyl-, 2-p-tolyl- and 2-methyl-, 4 : 6-dichloro-1 : 3 : 5-triazine are prepared by reacting the corresponding 4 : 6-dihydroxy-triazines with phosphorus oxychloride. 2-Methoxy-4 : 6-dichloro-1 : 3 : 5-triazine is prepared by reacting cyanuric chloride with sodium methoxide.
