Abstract

680,003. Vapour burners. MORTON LONGLEY (AGRICULTURAL), Ltd. Aug. 4, 1950 [April 11, 1949], No. 9793/49. Class 75(i) In a liquid fuel burner the fuel vaporizer heated by the flame from the burner jet 10 comprises a cylindrical member 3 having interior radial fins 11 and furnished with an integral annular chamber 4 having an inlet and an outlet connected to the fuel and vapour pipes 5, 6. The cylindrical member 3 has an internal flange 7 with a square face 8 on the side nearer the jet 10 and a chamfer 9 on the other side. The square face of the flange sets up turbulence in the gaseous stream; this prevents the flame from blowing out and from surging. The four fins 11 are equidistantly spaced and extend three quarters of the radial length of the tube and the full longitudinal length thereof. A sheet metal cowling 13 with air inlets 14 is fitted to the burner.
