A support for the lap of an endless conveyer belt consists of a rod or bar which extends immediately below the belt to support it and has projecting laterally from it, at least one angular or hook member constructed for releasable engagement with a fixed support member. The figures show the application to a conveyer belt extending lengthwise of the coal face in a mine, the coal being conveyed on the lower lap 1a, Fig. 1, which is supported on idlers. The upper lap is supported by member 8 on roof-supporting members consisting of a post 3 on each side of the belt and a cross bar 5 of corrugated cross section resting on wedges 4 on the posts 3. In one form Fig. 8, each member 8 consists of a metal rod 10 having one end bent to form parts 11, 12, the part 12 being threaded through a hole formed by one of the hollows 6, or 7 of the bar 5 and the wedge 4 of the near side post 3. In a modification, Fig. 10, an additional cranked part 14 is pivotally mounted on the rod 10 for engaging the opposite post 3. The rod 10 and at least one of the parts 11, 16 may be adjustable in length. In Fig. 6, a pair of cranked members 20, 21 are pivotally mounted on the rod 18 by means of members 26 and retained by enlargements 19. They may also be pivotally mounted about the axes of the parts 24, 25, each being formed with a neck extending through a hole in one of the members 26 and with a head 27. In Fig. 7, the support consists of a bar 28 with angle members 29 freely mounted thereon, and hooks 30 pivotally connected to the members 29 at 31 and engaging in the recesses 33 in the roof bars 34.
