Abstract
678,494. Boring earth. LAVISA SOC. PER AZIONI. Dec. 1, 1950. [Dec. 5, 1949] No. 29456/50. Class 85. [Also in Group XXVIII] Apparatus situated in a pit for laying pipe beneath ground, in which the pipe surrounds and is carried forwardly by a punch that is pushed into the ground without rotation to be subsequently withdrawn leaving the pipe in place, comprises a double acting hydraulic press structure 2, 3 to the pistons 4 of which is secured a frame 7 having a number of recesses 10 formed thereon, to one pair of which is secured by keys 9 a block 8. To the block 8 is attached the rearmost section of a punch 11, it being surrounded by sections of pipe 12 the rearmost section of which abuts the block 8. Both pipe and punch project past a sealing packer 13 in a hole in the wall of the pit and a cavity is formed in the ground 14 by reciprocating the punch until said hole is of the desired length when the pipe is advanced thereinto on a subsequent movement of the punch that may be hollow. The various advancing movements of the punch and the pipe, and the addition of new sections to both, is permitted by the recesses 10.
