Abstract

678,382. Plough shares. WADE, Ltd., F., and WADE, F. Nov. 6, 1950 [Aug. 27, 1949], No. 22303/49. Class 6(i) A ploughshare is provided with a detachable tip 11 having a spigot portion 11a which enters a recess 10a in the share 10 and has a transverse groove 11c which registers with a corresponding groove 10c in the share to receive a pin for securing the tip in position. The recess is formed with a D-shaped rib 10b along its median section which enters a U-shaped longitudinal groove 11b in the spigot to prevent lateral movement of the tip. The registration between the grooves 10c and 11c is not quite complete, so that the pin requires insertion by hammering. The groove 10c is elongated forwardly by a gently-sloping wall 100c which permits the removal of the tip, together with the pin, by the insertion of a chisel behind the shoulder 11e.
