677,679. Cooling discharge lamps. SCORPICON, Inc. July 5, 1950, No. 16823/50. Class- 39 (i). [Also in Groups I and XIII] To minimize undesirable deposits on a sheathed tubular watercooled electric lamp 10 of the mercury arc type, the cooling water continuously re - circulated through the lamp sheath 12 is passed through a mixture of anion and cation exchange resins. A pump 22 circulates the water through the radiator 24, container 28, and jacket 12 surrounding the quartz lamp tube 10, which is mounted between terminals 14, 16 immersed in the cooling water. The jacket 12 has a constricted portion to restrict the flow of electricity through the water between the terminals 14, 16. Specification 671,455 and U.S.A. Specification 2,435,300 are referred to.
