Abstract
676,662. Batteries. AM.BROS, E. D', (trading as BREVETTI D'AMBROS). March 9, 1950 [May 13, 1949], No. 5957/50. Class 53. An accumulator plate consists of a number of tubular elements 10 of triangular shape in cross-section connected at their upper ends to a bus-bar 12 as shown in plan in Fig. 3. The elements 10a of the adjacent plate of opposite polarity are connected to a bus-bar 12a and fit into the spaces between the elements of the other plate. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the elements are made of porous insulating material and enclose the active material and lead or nickel-iron rods 20 connected to the bus-bars. In a modification, the elements are formed by winding glass wool round triangular masses of active material. In another modification, the elements are formed as cages of vertical and cross wires. The cages are filled with active material which is kept in place by porous casings into which the cages are inserted.
