Abstract

A coprecipitate of a filler and a synthetic rubber is obtained by adding a surface-active dispersing agent to a filler in an aqueous liquid to form a stable aqueous dispersion mixing this dispersion with an aqueous dispersion of the rubber which has been previously stabilized by the addition of a surface-active agent, and thereafter coprecipitating the filler and rubber, e.g. by means of sulphuric or acetic acid, or by roller or spray drying. The filler is preferably carbon black of less than 100m m size, but aluminium silicate, hydrated silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, precipitated calcium carbonate or precipitated magnesium carbonate may be used. The synthetic rubbers may be copolymers of butadiene and styrene or acrylonitrile, polybutadiene, neoprene or butyl rubber.
