[Also in Group VII] A stitch severing device comprises a thimble having a blade extending transversely of its outer end and in a plane in the same direction as the axis of the thimble. As shown, a blade 6 is secured by a screw 7 to a cutaway face 5 of an extension 3 at the outer end of the thimble 2, the cutting edge 8 being transverse to the axis of the thimble. In modifications the blade is secured in a slot in the outer end of the thimble, is formed integrally with a hard metal thimble, or is moulded into a thimble of synthetic plastic material.
