Abstract
675,329. Drying fabrics &c. WHITELEY, E. G., and QUARMBY, A., (trading as WHITELEY, E. G.). Aug. 10, 1950, No 19882/50. Class 34(i) Apparatus for drying long webs of material by air or other gas and comprising a chamber through which the web is led between two series of discharge tubes 14 and provided at opposite sides with lateral chambers 7 to accommodate the blowers 13, heaters 18 &c. has each of these chambers 7 subdivided by partition walls 9 into three adjacent compartments 11, 10, 11 which are in connection by means of openings 12, the two outer compartments 11 communicating also by means of openings 17 with the main chamber whilst the central compartments 10 are connected to one another by means of discharge tubes 14. In a multiple path apparatus, Fig 3, two adjacent outer compartments are replaced by a single compartment between succeeding central compartments.
