Abstract
The invention comprises organo silicon polymers of the general formula <FORM:0675041/IV (a)/1> wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical and n is a positive integer having a value of at least 3, and their preparation by hydrolysing compounds of the general formula RX2SiCH2 SiX2R, wherein R has the above significance and X is halogen. When n is greater than 3, the products are resinous. In the examples a resinous product is obtained by dissolving CH3Cl2SiCH2SiCl2CH3, C6H5Cl2SiCH2SiCl2CH3 or C6H5Cl2SiCH2SiCl2C6H5 in ether, pouring the solution over ice and removing the ether from the ether layer. Specification 672,824 is referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds having the general formula <FORM:0675041/IV (b)/1> wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical and n is a positive integer having a value of at least 3, and their preparation by hydrolysing compounds of the general formula RX2SiCH2SiX2R, wherein R has the above significance and X is halogen. In the examples the compound <FORM:0675041/IV (b)/2> is prepared. Specification 672,824 is referred to.
