Abstract
1 - Phenyl - 3 - heptadecyl - 4 - p - hydroxybenzylidene-5-pyrazolone is prepared by heating together 1 - phenyl - 3 - heptadecyl - 5 - pyrazolone and p-hydroxybenzaldehyde in glacial acetic acid and absolute alcohol. The corresponding 1-p-sulphophenyl- and 1-p-nitrophenyl-compounds are similarly prepared. Specification 513,596 is referred to. The Provisional Specification also refers to 1-p-tolyl-3-pentadecyl-4-p-hydroxybenzylidene-5-pyrazolone.
