An electric transformer of the kind having an oil-filled bushing for the incoming electric supply leads mounted atop the transformer tank, the oil in the bushing and that in the tank forming a unitary system, has the bushing constructed to form a condenser core having earth shields on the outside and an earthed flange, an adaptor plate to clamp the flange to the transformer tank with an oil seal in the joint to seal the oil in the bushing from the oil in the tank and having a pipe or channel arranged to interconnect the oil in the bushing with the oil in the tank, the pipe or channel containing a gas-actuated relay, for example a Buchholz protector, the relay giving protection to the transformer only. A single oil conservator atop the bushing and the tank serves to accommodate the oil fluctuations due to temperature variations.
