Abstract

671,005. Cutting-tools. BEESLEY, W., and HARDWICK, H. B. Oct. 23, 1950 [Dec. 1, 1949], No. 30912/49. Class 83 (iii). A tool for turning, planing &c. comprises an annular cutting tip 1 supported by a pad 2 of softer material on a bar 8, and screw clamping means 5, 9, operating substantially at rightangles to the bar and being adjustable to permit rotation of the tip 1. The tip 1 of sintered tungsten carbide may be separated from the steel pad 2 by a copper shim 7, <1>/32 inch thick. In a modification, the screw means 29, Fig. 4, allows lateral adjustment of the tip. A washer 27 of 0.005 inch shim-steel may be fitted.
