Abstract
669,716. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 22, 1950 [Feb. 25, 1949], No. 4553/50. Class 39 (i). A thermionic valve comprises a flat coated nickel cathode 9, supported on a cylindrical molybdenum foil 13, close to a grid 5 secured to a copper disc 4 sealed through the parts 1, 2 of the glass envelope. The foil 13 is surrounded by a molybdenum cylinder 16, mounted on three stay-rods 17 and extending from the - cathode surface round the parts of the cathode and foil which are at a high temperature, so as to arrest volatalizing products and act as a radiation shield. The foil 13 is soldered to the inner of two telescopic chromium-iron-nickel cylinders 14, 15, which are soldered together at the ends after the correct cathode-grid spacing has been adjusted by sliding. A further disc 6 supports the anode 7 and a getter container 8.
