Apparatus for spraying heated material on roads includes a spraybar 1 provided at intervals with aligned orifices 2, 3 for the reception of spray nozzle housings 4, each containing a nozzle 17 and a valve 11. To open the valve, its stem 12 is turned to bring orifices 14, 15 into co-operation, and the spray material enters the valve tangentially and is swirled before leaving the nozzle 17.
