Abstract

668,785. Lighting fittings. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 24, 1950 [Feb. 28, 1949], No. 4811/50. Class 75 (iv) In an electric lighting fitting having both incandescent lamps 8 and tubular fluorescent lamps 4, the incandescent lamps are arranged in meridionally-corrugated cupshaped reflectors 9 and are provided with shielding means on the sides remote from the reflectors. The shielding means may comprise mirrors 10 on the bottoms of the lamps or diffusing layers on the lamps and/ or screens or reflectors secured to the fitting itself. The lamps are mounted in a support 1 suspended by rods 2 with an incandescent lamp arranged at each end of each pair of fluorescent lamps. A grating 5 consisting of vertical strips arranged in rhomb pattern shields the fluorescent lamps. The incandescent lamps may serve as ballast resistors for the fluorescent lamps.
